Movie Assignment

The movie I chose to watch was A Time to Kill, the film was very interesting and I enjoyed watching it.

1. Identify ALL of the conflicts in the movie. How are they presented and resolved?
The major conflict in the movies was how those White men raped that little black girl and was going to get away with. I tried to put myself in the fathers position and I probably would have did the same thing. The conflicts are presented when the two white men raped the little girl and the father ended up shooting them.

2. Do the conflicts seem realistic? Why?
Yes the conflicts seem realistic because, during that time African Americans were not treated equal so when those type of things happened, they did not suffer consequences like they would now.

3. How might you handle the conflicts differently / better than in the film?
I don't think that killing those men was the brightest move, but you never know what you would do if you were in that same position. I probably would not have shot them but I know I would have tried to the best of my ability to make sure they spent the rest of their lives in jail.

4. Did the characters utilize effective negotiation, communication, listening and problem-solving skills?
Yes they did because the lawyer had to do all of the above to pursue the jury that the father wasn't thinking clearly.

5. Do the conflicts in the film provide any opportunities for alternative dispute resolution? Explain.
I am really not for sure because back in those days there was nothing that you could say to change there opinion about blacks. So no matter what was did the Whites were sticking with the whites and the blacks with the blacks.

Phone Call Assignment

This week we were to do a phone call assignment with someone where we role played. Someone was to be a resource manager and the other person was to be an employee who was having a problem. My phone partner was Matt and we decided on the issue of sexual harassment within a company. I was a woman who was having problems with a fellow worker and went to the resource manager to let him know what had happen. Matt felt that if it was the first time than he would talk to them employee and if it persist than that person would get wrote up.

We also discussed what would happen in different circumstances, For example, if it were not just words but someone got physical or if it were mutual and then the woman decides to say it was sexual harassment. So we discussed many different scenarios and the conclusion we both agreed on was, sexual harassment is a big problem and it needs to be dealt with in accordance to what the allegations are.

Emotional IQ Test

My test proved that I have a lot of work to do within myself order to be a complete person. I think that it takes time for a person to really figure out what they want and expect from life. I am 23 years old and i don't know what tomorrow is going to bring, but what I can say is that I am living my life for my kids TODAY. Life is short and it is not guaranteed that you will go to sleep and and wake up the next day. So I try to live my life according to that. I know my life may not be perfect and for definite it did not turn out the way I planned, but i am OK with the way it did. I'm learning to be happy and content with my life and stop worrying about what in could have been and continue to focus on what it can be.

Sorry

I just figured out that you have to go to new post in order to put it on your main blog page. I didn't know that, I feel like such an idiot!!!

NLP Style

In taking this assessment it showed that I was KINESTHETIC, which means I tend to think in tactile/feeling terms and use my feelings. I would have to agree with that because I do think that I am very emotional and sensitive to certain things that occur in my surroundings.

Tieger Assessment of Personality Type

I did the assessments that we were told to do and It really shocked me. In doing this assessment I found out that I am an interactive person. In the second assessment I did, my letters were ESFP, which means that I am a Extravert, Sensers a feeler, and a perciever.I prefer to deal with information that is tangible, factual, and objective. They prefer data to ideas. They typically like spreadsheets, reports, charts, graphs, facts and figures.I prefer to focus their attention and process the world on the outer world of people and things.I strive for harmony and equanimity and base their decisions on their own and others’ feelings. I am spontaneous, flexible, “go with the flow” types. They eschew structure, and too many rules/regulations. They have the ability to change priorities easily and often move from one project or idea to another without feeling a compelling need to complete them.

How cool is that!!!!
